Are you passionate about preventing diabetes, supporting those living with the condition, and improving health outcomes in Bermuda? We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers, including students, to help with a variety of activities and services. Your time and energy can make a real difference.
We welcome volunteers year-round, and our opportunities fall into two key areas: health screenings and diabetes awareness & fundraising.
Through our health screening events, we provide vital checks for early detection of diabetes and associated complications, helping people take charge of their health. Screenings are offered for:
Requirements: We welcome volunteers who are qualified health professionals, such as nurses, nursing assistants, optometrists, podiatrists, and others with relevant experience. In line with our vulnerable persons policy, all volunteers must have completed SCARS training and hold a clean police record.
Availability: Most screenings are held on weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, typically requiring a two-to-four-hour commitment. Some Bermuda Diabetes Association-supported events also take place on weekends. If you’re interested in joining us, please email media@diabetes.bm with your résumé and details of your availability.
Throughout the year, we host a variety of events to raise awareness about diabetes — from open houses to our popular fruit and water stand at the Annual Exhibition. We also hold two key fundraising events each year: Denim for Diabetes Tag Day and the Lindo’s to Lindo’s Walk/Run. We welcome volunteers to assist with:
Requirements: Energetic volunteers aged 14 and over are essential to the success of our awareness and fundraising efforts. Students seeking community service hours are especially encouraged to join us.
Availability: A minimum of 2 hours
