Are you unsure about your risk for pre-diabetes or diabetes? This New Year, the Bermuda Diabetes Association invites you to take a simple step toward better health and peace of mind.

Did you know that 1 in 8 people in Bermuda is living with pre-diabetes - and most don’t even know it? The good news is that diabetes and pre-diabetes can often be prevented or better managed through early detection and lifestyle changes.

This New Year, we’re making it easier than ever to understand and check your risk of pre-diabetes.

Free HbA1c Screening – Quick, Simple, and Informative

We’re offering FREE HbA1c tests throughout January and early February - a key tool used to measure your average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months.

  • The HbA1c test helps to diagnose pre-diabetes and diabetes.
  • For those already diagnosed, it helps assess how well blood sugars are being controlled.
  • The appointment takes only 15 minutes and involves a small finger prick for a drop of blood.
  • Your results are available on the spot, so you can share them with your doctor right away.

If you’ve had an HbA1c test in the past 2–3 months, you don’t need to repeat it at this time.

  2. Book Your Free HbA1c Appointment: If your results show moderate or high risk, schedule your free HbA1c test with us today using this link. It’s a small step that can make a big difference to your long-term health.

Understanding Your HbA1c Results

  • Below 5.7%: Normal
  • 5.7%–6.4%: Pre-diabetes (higher risk of developing diabetes)
  • 6.5% or higher: Diabetes

If your result shows pre-diabetes or diabetes, we encourage you to book an appointment with one of our Registered Dietitians. Our dietitians can help you understand your results, make practical lifestyle changes, and create a nutrition plan to support better blood sugar control. You don’t need insurance to see our dietitians. If you do have insurance, there is no co-pay for your visits.
