Chronic Kidney Disease Screening 25th-27th August 2026

This August (25th-27th), the Bermuda Diabetes Association is partnering with CARNA Health to offer a FREE three-day Chronic Kidney Disease Screening, giving you the opportunity to check your kidney health before symptoms appear. Because kidney disease is often silent in its early stages, screening is one of the most effective ways to detect it early and take proactive steps to protect your long-term health.

CKD occurs when the kidneys become damaged or are no longer working as well as they should, often due to conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, injury, or age-related decline. Early detection and treatment can slow or even prevent the progression of kidney disease and reduce the risk of serious complications.

Screening Date:

August 25-27th 2026, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:45am – 4:00pm.

Location:

Bermuda Diabetes Association, 22 Princess Street, City of Hamilton (where Princess Street meets Dundonald Street).

‍

Open To:

The free screening is open to individuals with one or more of the following risk factors:

• Diabetes
• High blood pressure (hypertension)
• Cardiovascular disease
• Previous episode of acute kidney injury
• Gout
• Smoking
• Obesity
• Family history of kidney disease

If none of the above apply to you, screening is not required. You only qualify for screening if you have one or more of the risk factors listed above.

What to Expect:

• The screening appointment will take approximately 45–60 minutes to complete.
• Please come well hydrated to your appointment, as the screening process involves providing a urine sample and a prick blood test. Being well hydrated will help ensure the process runs smoothly and that you are able to provide the necessary samples.
