About this programme

One of the most exciting recent developments in diabetes has been the potential to achieve type 2 remission.

The Bermuda Diabetes Association, in partnership with Argus, deliver the Diabetes Rewind Program (DRP) tailored to Bermuda's population.

The DRP is based on the methods used in the ground-breaking DiRECT study conducted in the UK. The DRP uses evidence-based findings of DiRECT and was shaped to suit Bermuda's needs by world-renowed DRP specialist Dr. David Cavan.

What you need to know
  1. Participants in the DRP programs have achieved diet-induced weight loss which has resulted in a range of benefits including reducing blood sugar levels, improved blood pressure, the need for fewer medications and remission of diabetes.
  2. The DiRECT study was extended and results from the past five years continue to demonstrate long term benefits including remission of type 2 diabetes.
  3. The DRP is conducted in small, in-person group settings. DRP groups (or cohorts) have a maximum of 8 participants. Goals are personalized for each participant.
  4. Since 2022, there have been four DRP cohorts with at least two more cohorts planned for 2023.

DRP is currently offered to Argus insured members with diabetes and prediabetes, and who are recommended by their primary care physician.
