Chronic kidney disease (CKD) means that the kidneys are damaged and are not working as well as they used to, either due to being diseased or damaged in some way or aging. Early detection and treatment can slow down or stop the progression and prevent the development of complications. Screening is important because the symptoms associated with kidney disease typically only occur at the more advanced stages of the disease.
If you have any of the health conditions noted below, having your kidneys screened can help you identify whether you are at risk.
A range of conditions can cause kidney disease –
· Diabetes
· High Blood Pressure(hypertension),
· Cardiovascular disease
· Previous episode of acute kidney injury
· Gout
· Smoker
· Obesity
· Family history of kidney disease
